Effective date: 25 October 2026 · Last updated: 25 October 2026 · Developer: Naveen Raj (Playpal Apps) · App: Weatherglass (com.playpalapps.weatherglass) for iPhone and iPad

Weatherglass does not collect personal data and has no server of its own. Your places and settings stay on your device. The only thing that leaves it is the location of a place, sent to Apple Weather so it can return that place's forecast.

The short version: no accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. To show a forecast, the app asks Apple Weather for the weather at a pair of coordinates. The optional Pro unlock is handled by Apple.

1. What we do not do

  • We do not collect personal information of any kind.
  • We do not offer accounts or sign-ups, and we do not ask for your name or email address.
  • We do not show ads, and we do not use analytics, crash reporting, tracking or advertising identifiers.
  • We do not run servers that receive your data. There is no Weatherglass backend.

2. What is stored on your device

  • The places you save (their names and coordinates) and which one you last looked at
  • Your unit choices and settings: Tilt, Haptics, Sound, sunset alerts and the rain countdown
  • The most recent forecasts, so the app opens instantly and works briefly offline
  • For the widgets: a short forecast and pictures of the sky for the coming hours, in storage shared only with Weatherglass's own widgets
  • Whether Weatherglass Pro is unlocked

Deleting the app removes all of it.

3. Location

If you allow it, Weatherglass reads your approximate location while you are using the app, to show the sky where you are. The location is turned into a place name on your device using Apple's maps service, and the coordinates are sent to Apple Weather (WeatherKit) to fetch the forecast. Weatherglass never tracks you in the background and does not keep a history of where you have been. A few times a day iOS may let Weatherglass refresh the forecast in the background, for sunset alerts and the rain countdown; that uses the place you last viewed, not a new location reading. You can say no to location and choose places by name instead.

4. Apple Weather

Forecasts come from Apple Weather through Apple's WeatherKit service. Apple receives the coordinates of the place being forecast, under Apple's privacy policy. Searching for a place uses Apple's MapKit in the same way.

5. Weatherglass Pro

Weatherglass Pro is an optional one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details, your name or your Apple Account. The app is told only whether Pro is unlocked.

6. Permissions

  • Location (while using the app): to show your local sky, as described above.
  • Motion: the sky shifts gently as you tilt your phone, and Sky Finder uses the phone's orientation to place the sun and moon over the camera view. Motion readings are used on the device only and are never stored or sent.
  • Camera (Sky Finder, only if you open it): shows the live view so the sun's path, sunset point and moon can be drawn over the real sky. Nothing is photographed, recorded, stored or sent.
  • Notifications (optional): a heads-up before a spectacular sunset, and the rain countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Both are worked out on your device.

Weatherglass never asks for your contacts, photos or microphone.

7. Children's privacy

Because we collect no personal data from anyone, we collect none from children.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
