How can we help?

Pocket Reef for iPhone, iPad and Android · Playpal Apps

Quick answers to common questions. If yours is not here, email us and we will reply personally.

How do I feed my fish?

Tap Feed to scatter flakes across the surface. Or hold a finger still in the water: a flake appears at your fingertip and the bravest fish come to eat from your hand. Hungry fish look a little duller, and their card says so.

How does trust work?

Every fish starts a little wary. Each flake it takes from your hand builds its trust, shown as dots on its card. Tame fish follow your finger, and come over to say hello when you open the app. Shy fish take longer, just like real ones.

How do I add an octopus, sharks or whales?

Tap Add fish, then Creatures. Swimmers like sharks, whales and squid swim straight in. Creatures that live on the bottom, like the octopus, seahorse and hermit crab, ask you to tap the sand where you want them. Sharks, whales, dolphins and most creatures are part of Pocket Reef Pro; the octopus, seahorse and a few others are free. You can keep up to two of each big animal.

How do I move or remove things?

Open More and choose Rearrange plants and creatures, then drag anything you placed. Undo steps back. To remove one, tap it and choose Release or Pull out; a toast lets you undo that too.

Why is the water glowing?

On nights around a real full moon the water fills with glowing plankton. Trail a finger through the dark water and it lights up. Other rare moments, like a passing sea turtle, a storm or a pearl in the giant clam, happen on their own; your book keeps track of the ones you have seen.

How do I add the widget?

iPhone and iPad: touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Pocket Reef. Android: open More, then Add home-screen widget, or touch and hold your home screen and choose Widgets. The picture refreshes whenever you visit your tank.

What is ambient mode?

More, then Ambient mode. The controls disappear, the screen stays on and a slow camera drifts through the tank. Tap once to show the exit.

Will it drain my battery or make my phone hot?

Pocket Reef slows down to a calm frame rate when nothing is happening, and backs off further if your phone gets warm or Low Power Mode or Battery Saver is on. For the lightest touch, choose Battery under More, Performance.

Can I turn the sound or haptics off?

Yes, both are in More. The feeding reminder is off unless you turn it on.

Restoring Pocket Reef Pro

Open More, tap Unlock Pocket Reef Pro, then Restore purchases. Pro is tied to the Apple Account or Google account that bought it.
