1. What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information of any kind.
- We do not offer accounts or sign-ups, and we do not ask for your name or email address.
- We do not show ads, and we do not use analytics, crash reporting, tracking or advertising identifiers.
- We do not run servers that receive your data. There is no Pocket Reef backend, and the app makes no network requests of its own.
2. What is stored on your device
- Your tank: which fish, plants and creatures you keep, where you placed them, the names you gave your fish and how much each one trusts you
- Your scene, the time of day setting and your settings (sound, haptics, graphics, water clarity and so on)
- Your journal, your book of discoveries and a few small totals, such as how many times you have fed the tank
- Up to six recent dawn photos of your tank, for the morning greeting
- For the home-screen widget: one picture of your tank and a short line of news, in storage shared only with Pocket Reef's own widget
- Whether Pocket Reef Pro is unlocked
Deleting the app removes all of it.
3. Photos and clips
When you take a photo, record a clip or make a postcard, Pocket Reef makes the picture on your device and opens your phone's share sheet. Where it goes next is up to you. If you choose to save it to your photo library, your phone asks for permission to add it; Pocket Reef never reads your existing photos.
4. Pocket Reef Pro
Pocket Reef Pro is an optional one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your payment details, your name or your account. The app is told only whether Pro is unlocked.
5. Permissions
- Notifications (optional, off by default): a daily reminder that your fish are hungry, at a time you choose. It is scheduled on your device.
- Add to Photos (only when you save): to save a photo, clip or postcard you made.
- Motion: a sharp shake startles the fish. Motion readings are used on the device only and are never stored or sent.
Pocket Reef never asks for your location, contacts, camera or microphone.
6. Children's privacy
Because we collect no personal data from anyone, we collect none from children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
